Whatcha Reading Wednesday - 3/17/2010

Someone asked me last week if I came up with this all on my own. The answer is an emphatic NO! I saw it on several other book review blogs and wanted to share it will you guys. So yes I am a thief! But it's all in good fun right?

So this is how "Whatcha Reading Wednesdays" works

You grab the book you are currently reading, open it to a TOTALLY RANDOM page and then go to a random place on the page and select two full sentences. Then leave a comment with just the two sentences, the page number, title and author of the book. If it is a spoiler at all be sure to put **Spoiler Alert** at the top of your comment (like if the selection announces the death of an integral character or something). But I really doubt that two sentences on a random page are going to give away the plot - =). This is supposed to fun and enlightening and I really hope you guys do this!

Here is mine for this week:
Emerson had its very own nurse who gave the three of us ear and eye ecams, out first ever. I aced the tests - "Eagle eyes and elephant ears" the nurse said - but Lori struggled trying to read the eye chart.

  1. I don't think I could post two lines from the book I am reading right now! LOL Everyone would be going what??? I am almost finished with P.C. Cast's Divine by Mistake. Definitely not a teen book. Or at least not one I would consider letting anyone under 17 read!

  3. I'd love to post two lines of what I'm reading, but I can't randomly pick a page on here. But, I'm in the middle of Vanish by Tom Pawlik.

  4. Oooh! I'm playing! :-)

"The collar to his shirt opened in a manner unlike him. He usually took such care with his attire."

From the soon-to-be-published The Emerald Storm by Michael J. Sullivan. I cannot give a page number, as I'm sure it'll change between now and publishing, but it's on the first page of Chapter 13.

So, am I allowed to do this on my blog next week? Please - I have a few bookworms reading my blog who I know would play along!

  5. Ham - great post and way to really tease us with an ARC! Of course you can put it on your blog next week - in fact I would love it if you come back with a link so we can see what your readers add!

  6. :-) I'm glad to tease - in this particular instance! ;-) This is the fourth book in a series, but each book is meant to stand alone. Having read all of the previous ones, I can't vouch for how well it'll work as a stand-alone title, but the whole series (the first of which is called The Crown Conspiracy) is EXCELLENT!

I will TRY to remember to do this on Wednesday! LOL That's half the battle - not forgetting when "real life" gets in the way! ;-)

Oh, yes, I'll definitely post a link. May I use your graphic?

  8. Audrey - what a great idea. I don't know that much about them - I mean I post in them all the time but I haven't ever put one on my blog. I am going to look into it. Hopefully I can figure it out by next week.
