Top 10 Picks with Random Ramblings

This is an awesome Meme over at Random Ramblings! I love love love them. I have found some really great title by participating. Here is a little explanation about the meme:

In this feature, there will be a different and specific topic given each week. I will then choose 10 of my favorites from that given category, create the list, and post them up here! For this week, the topic will indeed be on 'Books That Made You Cry.' I thought this was an interesting and an easy topic for me, because it's really not that difficult at all for books and stories to make me shed a tear -- or should I say buckets of them? For me, there are just two basic -- and very simple -- levels to make a book qualify:

1st - Made me tear up a little
2nd - Made me tear up a lot
The books that belong in this list all belong on the 2nd level.

This one is going to be a little tough for me because I actually try to avoid books that make me cry, because I don't really like to cry but there are some that caught be by surprise. I am a couple days late on this one but here goes and , in no particular order..

1. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
2. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
3. The Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon
4. Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati
5. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
6. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs
7. Lover Awakened by JR Ward
8. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
9. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
10. PS I Love You by Cecilia Ahern (I haven't actually read this one yet, but from what I have heard it will make me ball like a baby, it's two books down on my TBR Pile)

  1. Other than The Notebook and Outlander I haven't read any of these, and some I've never heard of, so that's exciting!

Funny that you should say you try to avoid books that make you cry. I LOVE books that make me cry-especially if I am having an especially stressful time in my life at that moment. It just feels like such a release!

  2. I cried hysterically while reading Dear John! Not about the love story part, about the dad part. Oh my gosh, it was horrible how hard I cried! Very good book, though.

  3. @ Heather - that's when I read the tear-jerkers too!

@Jennifer - OMG that's the part that I cried about most too! It just broke my heart! And no one else I have talked to about that book felt the same.

I have not read #8 yet, and I definitely will after reading its synopsis! And I'm glad to see A Walk to Remember here, haha.
I actually did not cry when I read The Notebook but like you, I bawled with the movie. It's also one of my favorites. Have you seen the movie adaptation of PS I Love You? I cried there too.
