Top Ten Picks with Random Ramblings

Hello all. I am again participating in the Top Ten Picks meme from Random Rambling's site. This week the topic is The Top Ten Book You Have to Read Once.
I might point out that I only read books once but I think I can still come up with ten books that everyone should give a go! Please note that I am not going to pick any series, as a whole, but just my favorite books in general. So here they are in no particular order.
  1. Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer
  2. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
  3. Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati
  4. Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
  5. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
  6. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs
  7. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks
  8. Lover Awakened by JR Ward
  9. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon
  10. Oh The Place You will Go by Dr. Seuss.
A rather strange collection isn't it? But these are the titles that came to mind. What do you think? What would be on your list? Feel free to join this meme! I would love to see your Top Ten!

  1. Books lists get me all giddy. Top 10 books I've read once...EVER? I would have: To Kill A Mockingbird, East of Eden, Rebecca, The Shadow of the Wind, Beloved, and The Book Thief on my list. There are so many great books I've read more than once, though! East of Eden and To Kill A Mockingbird are due for another read and will soon be off this particular list.

    Great meme!

  2. Yay like your picks! I definitely agree with Dr.Seuss! :)

@Alison: It doesn't have to be a book you've only read once. Instead, it is a book that you think everyone should read at least once in their life time :)

  5. +JMJ+

I must ask . . . Why Eclipse and Lover Awakened?

  6. @Jillian: thank you for clarifying - I'm running on VERY little sleep (which is why many of my books are sitting unread on my desk right now...I don't have the attention span!)

    Even BETTER meme now! :)

  8. @ Enbrethiliel - Eclipse and Lover Awakened were my favorite of their respective series - The Twilight Saga and The Black Dagger Brotherhood. For Lover Awakened -Zsadist is my favorite brother, and I loved his story. Eclipse was the most entralling of the four books for me. I really can't wait for the movie - which happens to come out hte day after my b-day, yay!

Oh, okay! Thanks for clarifying that. =)

I've obviously been taking this category too seriously by considering only deep and erudite books, but there's no reason personal favourites can't make up a good portion of the list!

  10. @ E - I had thought the same thing about needing my list to be profound reads. But this I thought, that we don't read every single book looking for profoundness do we? Well, I don't. Sometimes I just want to be entertained and those two titles, specifically, are really entertaining to me.
BTW - I know this is probably dumb but what does +JMJ+ mean????

  11. I did choose to go with profound although it pains me not to include fun books that have brought much pleasure into my life (and that I think people should read at least once)--- but there will be more top tens to include those. DeLynne added Little Princess to our list so we aren't completely serious!

Hey, E-- how many people have asked you that? This is the 3rd that I know of. ;D

  12. Ahh - I forgot about Dr. Seuss. Yes, I can see that as a must read. I almost included a fantasy romance set and then replaced for more serious books. But you have to have light things too!
