Blog Carnival is Here again!

I am very excited to, once again, announce that the Book Review Blog Carnival is stopping on Busy Moms Who Love to Read today!!! What is a Blog Carnival, you ask.

Here are some details:
Description ¤ A carnival dedicated to book reviews. If you review books, please submit a post to and sign up to host, the Book Review Carnival.
Keywords ¤ books, fiction, non fiction, children's books, novels, history, biography
Filed under ¤ art & entertainment
Submission deadline ¤ Midnight, Eastern time, every other Saturday
Submission categories ¤ books, book reviews, fiction, non fiction, biography, history, children's books, novel
Maintained by ¤ Clark Bjorke
Current status ¤ This carnival is ongoing.

In a nutshell - it is a great way to meet other reviewers, learn about some different books and share your love of reading. So the book reviews included in this stop on the carnival are (in no particular order, except the order they were submitted to me=). You might ask why I don't break them up into genre groups. I am so bad at that - I always think a book should be in a different section of the library than it is. So instead of causing confusion I just like to put them in the order received and go from there!

Please head over and check out some of these reviews, and let them know you found them on the Blog Carnival.

Clark Bjorke presents The Last Night in Twisted River by John Iriving posted at I'll Never Forget the Day I Read a Book!. John Irving's newest novel still has the magic but you have to be a bit patient.

Miss Frye presents Whisper on the Wind by Maureen Lang posted at The Incurable Disease of Writing "Fortunately, Maureen Lang’s Whisper on the Wind, Book two in the Great War Series, was an enjoyable read."

Jim Murdoch presents The Ghost Rider by Ismail Kadare posted at The Truth About Lies. An old woman is awoken in the dead of night by knocks at her front door. The woman opens it to find her daughter, Doruntine, standing there alone in the darkness. She has been brought home from a distant land by a mysterious rider she claims is her brother Konstandin. But unbeknownst to her, Konstandin has been dead for years. What follows is chain of events which plunges a medieval village into fear and mistrust. Who is the ghost rider?

Woman Tribune presents Book Review: Put on Your Crown by Queen Latifah posted at Woman Tribune. "Put on Your Crown is not a typical self help book. It is not a book of pages upon pages of bullet points on how to miraculously find self confidence and start treating yourself like a queen."

Heather presents Review: Raised by Wolves posted at Proud Book Nerd. "I have heard this described as a coming-of-age story. I would have to agree, and add that it’s probably one of the best coming-of-age stories I’ve ever read. I loved Bryn – what a great main character! I loved her personality, her wit, her sarcasm, her Resiliency. It was a fun ride, watching her go from rebellious teenager to something so much more."

Mark presents Belly Up by Stuart Gibbs posted at Random Ramblings from Sunny Southern CA. "I don't think I can recommend this book highly enough."

Jim Murdoch presents Ghosts and Lightning by Trevor Byrne posted at The Truth About Lies. "Happy or unhappy, all families are a mystery. None more than the Cullens. Having escaped their clutches and moved to Wales, Denny is just beginning to make a life for himself when a call from his sister brings him back to Dublin, city of his birth. Back to square one. As if squabbling siblings and unhelpful childhood friends weren't trouble enough, a ghost starts making appearances in the family home and Denny's life starts to get a lot more complicated."

David presents Book Review: How An Economy Grows And Why It Crashes posted at Money Hacker. "I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I read it while driving to the snow at Perisher (south of Sydney). To be honest, it was a great way to kill a few of the 8 long hours of driving when I was cramped up in the car."

BWL presents Wisdom on Value Investing | Book Review posted at Christian Personal Finance. The whole premise of the book is about how people need to move away from the herd mentality when it comes to investing...

JHS presents Book Review: Beachcombers posted at Colloquium. Nancy Thayer's lastest work is another smart tale about women at a crossroads. Thayer's prose is lush and her depiction of women's relationships completely authentic and believable. A great book to put into your beach tote and lose yourself in while enjoying the surf.

JHS presents Book Review: Seven Year Switch posted at Colloquium. Claire Cook's new novel is a witty, engrossing tale of a woman who learns about forgiveness and, in the process, transforms herself. It is sure to become a summer beach read classic!

OutnumberedMama presents Review Lumby on the Air by Gail Fraser posted at Busy Moms Who Love to Read. I was pleasantly surprised by the breezy style of the book. This novel is entertaining as well as heartfelt. I was amazed at how quickly Fraser immerses the reader into the town of Lumby.

Nandini Ramachandran presents The Uncoupling of Jesus Christ. posted at ChaosBogey. A review of Pullman's latest fable for children, The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ, reconsidering demons he ousted in his pathbreaking trilogy.

Janna Voss presents Unfinished Business posted at Primo Reads - Book Reviews. “Unfinished Business” by Lee Kravitz is a memoir of sorts. In his mid-fifties Kravitz, a workaholic, loses his job. He suddenly has more free time than at any point in his adult life and attempts to fill the time.

Janna Voss presents The Risk Pool posted at Primo Reads - Book Reviews. "The Risk Pool" is one of Richard Russo's earlier novels and shines with Russo's subtle style. It has elements typical of a Russo novel - setting is a small town in upstate New York which has seen better days, tricky family relationships, likable main characters, and a large group of colorful secondary characters.

Zohar presents Book Review: Devils in Exile by Chuck Hogan posted at Man of La Book. Devils in Exile starts out great and with a subject which speaks volumes. Neal Maven, a loser in high school who turned out to be a lethal fighting machine in Iraq, is coming back home to…nothing.

You can all add your own book reviews to the next carnival at the Book Review Blog Carnival page on blogcarnival.com and you can become a fan on Facebook, where carnival events are posted.
